Tulsi herb belongs to the basil family and is at home in India. In this country it is therefore also known under the name Indian basil. Tulsi has been valued in his homeland for over 5,000 years. The Tulsi plant only became popular with us a few years ago. While it plays an important role in Hindu rituals in India, we tend to appreciate it for its culinary aspect. It is often used to refine dishes or drunk in the form of tea. Tulsi tea has a spicy taste that is somewhat reminiscent of pepper. Nevertheless, it does not taste intrusive or even unpleasant. Its aroma is usually also pervaded by a lovely, sweet note. It is precisely this interesting taste that makes tulsi a popular ingredient in many tea blends. The Indian herb cuts a particularly good figure in herbal teas that contain other spicy ingredients such as cinnamon, ginger or cardamom.
